Cancer Drug Assistance Program
Cancer Drug Assistance Program helps pharmacists help cancer patients
Cancer Care Ontario, the umbrella organization that steers and coordinates cancer services and prevention efforts in Ontario, is launching a pilot program aimed at lifting reimbursement barriers, so that cancer patients can focus on their treatment and health professionals can focus on delivering patient care. The Cancer Drug Assistance Program (CDAP) is being piloted in the South West and South East Local Health Integration Networks this spring.
This bilingual program investigates reimbursement options for patients and health care professionals for oral chemotherapy and supportive cancer therapies that are provided outside of hospitals. Health professionals at a call centre, with expertise in reimbursement, provide information about public and private reimbursement mechanisms, provide forms and templates, and help complete and submit them as required. Program professionals also track applications and requests for coverage as well as prescription renewals, taking this time-consuming process off your hands.
To find out more about this program and how to participate, please contact CDAP's administrator, Innomar Strategies Inc. at 1-877-681-6551 (tel) and 1-877-681-6552 (fax).
